Are you (or do you know) a youth bowler who is just starting to explore “tough shot” tournaments, or wants to start bowling them — but aren’t really sure what Sport/Challenge patterns are all about?

This class is for you!

Date: Saturday, June 18, 2022
Time: 10 a.m. till 12 Noon
Location: Silver Creek Lanes, Silverton, OR

We will start in the classroom to learn all about Sport patterns, and how to make sense of all the data you might see or hear at a tournament. Among the areas we’ll cover:

What makes a pattern “tough” compared to the one you might bowl on in your league?

What do those pattern graphs (that are posted at most tournaments) mean? How do you “read” those charts, and what kind of useful information can you get from them?

And, most importantly, what can you do to improve your chances for success on those tougher shots — especially if you’ve never bowled on them before?

We will talk about how to practice… and how NOT to practice!

After the classroom session, you will have PLENTY of time on the lanes to practice on the Sport patterns. The idea is for you to learn about tackling these tougher conditions from experienced coaches, then you will go try out these techniques in a no-pressure, non-competitive environment. (We will not be keeping score; we know it’s HARD to learn and experiment with adjustments, where there is the pressure of bowling for score.)

Instructor: Kevin Hong
USBC Silver-Level Coach
(Coach of adult and youth bowlers since 1997)
2-time Greater Seattle Bowler of the Year
AND… owner of (3) Sport-pattern 300 games and a high Sport series of 836

Class limited to 12 students
